So Robert and I got home at 12:something AM on Friday, July 2. We were able to get up at a decent hour that morning, probably because of the napping on planes. There was much laundry washing and unpacking.

On Saturday, we had guests for the 4th of July weekend! Marith, Dave, Trip, Ken, Cera and the baby! So cute! She is made of cute! The kids pounced upon her eagerly. They thought she was quite fun, too.

We played a 4th ed game that Dave ran. I whomped on things a whole lot with my ranger. Whee!

We did grilling things on Saturday and Sunday nights. We abandoned the guests to go watch fireworks. 25 minutes driving there, 20 minutes of fireworks, 45 minutes driving home. But I still think it was worth it.

This week has been a lot of lazing around. Laundry, dishes, a bit of cleaning and catching up and sorting and stuff. This morning I helped with the junior high PTC audit. I saw email about it right when we got back, so I volunteered to help. I got to swap information with people about changes at the junior high. Amusingly, I knew stuff about staff changes that Heidi didn't know. I thought she knew everything - she practically lives at that school.

Yesterday we saw Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs at the free summer movie festival. That was awfully cute.

I took the kids to karate yesterday and today. Kate is a lot less flexible than she used to be. She just stopped gymnastics two weeks ago. I don't know if it's just the lack of gymnastics (and she had been missing a lot of classes even before she quit) or if getting older is part of the difficulty. During butterfly stretches, the instructor was going around pushing knees down toward the floor to help the students stretch out. When he got to Josh, he paused, then moved on, because Josh was completely stretched out and practically floppy. (Earlier today I stopped him before he could wash his feet off in the kitchen sink. He was standing in front of the sink and about to put his foot under the faucet.)

I'm trying to get the kids to do some studying every day, but they are awfully lethargic. Must try harder.
